By accessing, browsing, or using NotebookGen (the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you must not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and NotebookGen ("we," "our," or "us"). We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Description of Service

NotebookGen is a free, browser-based web application that converts typed text into realistic handwritten-style assignments. The Service provides the following functionality:

• A rich text editor for composing and formatting content
• Multiple handwriting font options (15+ fonts)
• Page size configuration (A4, A3, A5, Letter, Legal, B5)
• Custom margin settings with per-page overrides
• Ink realism effects (baseline drift, letter spacing, pressure variation, smudges)
• Automatic multi-page pagination
• Table creation and formatting
• Image insertion with crop and resize controls
• Drawing canvas for diagrams and illustrations
• PDF and image export capabilities
• Auto-save and snapshot management

The Service is provided free of charge and operates entirely within the user's web browser. No account creation, registration, or login is required to use any features of the Service.

3. User Eligibility

The Service is available to individuals of all ages. There are no age restrictions for using NotebookGen, as the Service does not collect personal information or require account creation. However:

• Users under the age of 13 should have parental or guardian supervision when using the internet.
• If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization or institution, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
• You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service complies with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations.

4. Permitted Use

You may use NotebookGen for the following purposes:

• Educational purposes: Creating handwritten-style assignments, homework, lab reports, essays, study notes, worksheets, and other academic materials.

• Content creation: Generating handwritten-style text for blogs, social media, graphic design projects, and other creative endeavors.

You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for any lawful purpose consistent with these Terms.

5. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to use the Service for any of the following:

• Fraud or deception: Using generated documents to deceive, defraud, or mislead any person, organization, or institution.
• Impersonation: Creating documents that falsely represent the handwriting of another specific individual with the intent to deceive.
• Forgery: Creating or replicating official documents, certificates, legal papers, or any materials intended to forge authenticity.
• Illegal activities: Using the Service in connection with any illegal activity, including but not limited to identity fraud, document fraud, or counterfeiting.
• Malicious interference: Attempting to disrupt, disable, or interfere with the Service's operation, including through denial-of-service attacks, code injection, or exploitation of vulnerabilities.
• Unauthorized scraping: Using automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service without our express written consent.
• Redistribution: Rebranding, redistributing, or reselling the Service as your own product without proper attribution under the open-source license.

Academic Integrity Warning

Important: Many educational institutions have academic integrity policies that may restrict or prohibit the use of tools like NotebookGen for submitted assignments. It is your sole responsibility to ensure that your use of this tool complies with your institution's academic honesty policies. NotebookGen is not responsible for any academic consequences resulting from your use of the Service. We encourage all users to use this tool ethically and responsibly.

6. Intellectual Property

Our Intellectual Property

The NotebookGen application, including its source code, design, user interface, documentation, logo, and brand name, is the intellectual property of NotebookGen and its contributors. The source code is released under the ISC open-source license, which permits use, copying, and modification subject to the terms of that license.

Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content that you create, input, or generate using NotebookGen. This includes text, images, drawings, and exported documents. We make no claim of ownership over user-generated content. Since all processing occurs in your browser, we never have access to or possession of your content.

Third-Party Fonts

The handwriting fonts used by NotebookGen are provided through Google Fonts and are licensed under the SIL Open Font License or Apache License 2.0. These fonts are free for personal and commercial use.

7. User-Generated Content

NotebookGen does not host, store, or have access to user-generated content. All documents created through the Service exist only on your local device. As such:

• We cannot review, moderate, or remove content you create.
• You are solely responsible for the content you generate and how you use it.
• You agree not to create content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
• You are responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions or rights for content you incorporate into your assignments (e.g., images, quotes, or referenced materials).

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
• WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
• WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY CONTENT OR OUTPUT GENERATED BY THE SERVICE.
• WARRANTIES THAT THE GENERATED OUTPUT WILL PERFECTLY REPLICATE HUMAN HANDWRITING OR MEET SPECIFIC QUALITY STANDARDS.

You use the Service at your own risk. We make no guarantees about the suitability of the generated output for any particular purpose.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL NOTEBOOKGEN, ITS DEVELOPERS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO:

• Your use of or inability to use the Service
• Any content generated through the Service
• Any academic, professional, or personal consequences resulting from use of the Service
• Loss of data, including auto-saved content in browser local storage
• Unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data
• Any third-party content, services, or conduct

Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service (which is zero, as the Service is free).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless NotebookGen, its developers, contributors, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Content you create, distribute, or submit using the Service
• Any misrepresentation made by you in connection with your use of the Service

11. Third-Party Services & Links

The Service may integrate with or link to third-party services, including:

• Google Fonts: For loading handwriting and interface fonts
• Google AdSense: For displaying advertisements
• Cloudflare CDN: For loading the html2canvas library

These third-party services have their own terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of any third-party services. Your interaction with third-party services is governed by their respective terms.

12. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We may add, remove, or change features, functionality, or content. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

13. Termination

Since NotebookGen does not require accounts, traditional termination does not apply. However:

• We reserve the right to block access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms.
• You may stop using the Service at any time by simply closing the browser tab or navigating away.
• Clearing your browser's local storage will remove all auto-saved data associated with the Service.

Sections regarding intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification shall survive any termination of these Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and NotebookGen regarding the Service. These Terms supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, communications, and proposals, whether oral or written, between you and NotebookGen.
